My name is Socorro García, I have lived and worked in the Vista Hermosa community for 28 years.
In the last 6 years I have had the privilege of working as a Health Promoter in the Vista Hermosa Community, my community, near the city of Prescott, WA. I love the work I do because I identify with the needs of my community. I know the strengths and weaknesses of this community and the challenges they face every day, and I also know that through my work I can be the bridge that helps our community stay strong and live healthy one day at a time.
My vision is to provide health education for all, training to empower others, and to engage residents in starting healthy lifestyles. Let them know how they can have a healthy lifestyle and maintain spiritual well-being, connect them with resources and tools to help themselves and members of our community, and encourage and promote healthy habits in the workplace. Providing wellness programs to cultivate and maintain a culture of healthy families in this community.
Recognizing the importance of access to basic needs, our team facilitated home delivery of hygiene resources and food. We take orders through phone calls, considering the dietary preferences of each family. To ensure a constant supply, we collaborate with local businesses, efficiently collecting and delivering food orders. In addition to food, we provide essential hygiene materials. To further support families, we offer additional resources such as Visa cards, fuel cards, and food stamps.
